EUR 10.8 mln win marks biggest ever Estonian lottery prize
10,803,379.70 euros won by an Estonian lottery player in Wednesday's (July 1, 2020) draw of Viking Lotto marks the biggest lottery win in Estonian history, spokespeople for the state-owned lottery company Eesti Loto said, cites LETA/BNS.
The winning ticket was bought over the internet.
The biggest lottery prizes won in Estonian history so far were 1.155 million euros with Eurojackpot and one million euros with Viking Lotto, both won in 2016.
2020 has already seen a number of large lottery prizes paid out -- the latest jackpot is the eight major win this year as a prize of 907,269 euros was won with Bingo lotto and 659,116 euros with Eurojackpot.
Eesti Loto paid close to 5.9 million euros to the state in gambling tax during the first five months of 2020. The money is used to support sports, culture, research, education, medicine and other spheres. Wins during the same period totaled 13.2 million euros.
